I’m again at it on the weblog once more, and I waited an additional day for this week’s image of the week so I might make it a doozy. Final evening was a reasonably uncommon supermoon eclipse. The trifecta of a harvest moon, tremendous moon, and complete lunar eclipse gained’t occur once more till 2033 so I knew I wanted to get a very good image whereas it was there for the taking.
This was most likely the toughest picture I’ve ever tried to take. I gained’t bore you with the complexities of it (no less than till the For the photographers part under), suffice it to say my poor iMac virtually melted attempting to course of all the info.
So, with out additional ado, right here it’s: Dallas Eclipsed
Dallas Eclipsed, by Andy Luten
For the photographers
This one was a doozy. Numerous Photoshop, as you’d count on. The bottom picture was really shot midway into the eclipse and was about 15 seconds at f8, ISO 100. The moon photos had been taken about 4-5 minutes aside with me having to manually regulate/guess the publicity (ranged anyplace from 1/100s to 2.5″).
I edited the bottom image (mainly the skyline, bridge, and highway) in Lightroom after which Nik Shade Efex Professional 4. I then threw it into Photoshop for a Excessive Go layer of sharpening. Individually, I took 120 photos of the moon and put them into Photoshop as layers (which took about 2 hours to load in!). From there I went via the entire photos and picked out the layers that led to a kind of even path via the sky. I layered these in utilizing layer masks on the principle picture and both Display or Lighten mixing modes. I then introduced up the publicity on the entire moon “slices”. From there I ended up with a fairly good composite and went again into Lightroom for some White Steadiness changes. Solely 5 hours later I ended up with what I thought of to be a fairly good ultimate product! Would love to listen to your ideas.
